Breastfeeding Support
Breastfeeding can be challenging for many new moms. That’s why at CYHS we have breastfeeding peer counselors who are moms! They know exactly what you’re going through. They have received training in breastfeeding techniques, special circumstances and counseling. Our counselors are available to answer questions and to share or exchange ideas – they even do home or hospital visits.
Our counselors provide:
- Breastfeeding support
- Home, phone or hospital visits
- One-on-one counseling
- Manual or electric pumps
- Breastfeeding resources and supplies

Why Breastfeed
YOUR Baby
Breast milk has necessary nutrients for your baby and it’s easier for them to digest. It contains robust antibodies and nutrients to help build a strong immune system. If a mother is exclusively breastfeeding (only breast milk, no formula), they can receive additional foods with WIC coupons. The baby will receive more infant foods once he/she reaches 6 months of age.
