Madison County AIDS Program
The MadCAP Mission:
Prevent the spread of HIV and to respond to the needs of people infected or affected by HIV/AIDS while recognizing and respecting the dignity and privacy of all individuals in a nonjudgmental way.
Established in 1986, the Madison County AIDS Program (MadCAP) provides services to people living with HIV/AIDS and their families. MadCAP educates and empowers the community to raise awareness and help reduce the transmission of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
As a program of CYHS, MadCAP has adapted to the changing needs of the HIV community by offering a continuum of care. MadCAP offers HIV and Hepatitis C screenings, prevention materials and case management programs. The prevention and case management programs connect clients to healthcare, mental health resources, dental care and other needed services.
Free HIV and Hepatitis C screenings are provided to community members that do not have insurance or access to other services. When individuals test negative, they are educated on how to keep themselves safe from HIV and other STIs. When individuals test positive, they are counseled and linked to case management services and referred to a physician for immediate treatment.
